LCC Stars Baseball Opens 2026 Season With Momentum, Depth, and National Expectations
With the season just days away, Lansing Community College Stars Baseball prepares to build on one of the most consistent stretches of success in program history. Over the past four years, the program has established itself as one of the most consistent winning programs in the country.
The Stars hold an overall winning percentage near 80%, have produced three 40-plus-win seasons, have had two College World Series appearances, have won multiple conference championships, and finished last year ranked No. 9 nationally, while sending more than 60 players on to the next level since 2021. It is a program built on an All In mindset and an Uncommon standard.
Now, as Head Coach Steven “Coach Cut” Cutter enters his fifth season, expectations continue to rise. The 2026 roster blends experienced returners with a competitive freshman class, creating a group that understands the culture, preparation, and daily habits required to compete at a national level.
The Stars enter the season ranked #22 nationally, coming off a 44-13 campaign that included a Western Conference Championship and a top-10 national finish. That success carried directly into the fall, where measurable development defined the offseason. In 21 fall contests, the Stars recorded 101 stolen bases, reinforcing an aggressive identity on the base paths. The pitching staff increased average fastball velocity by 3.2 miles per hour, while position players improved sprint speed by 9 percent. Offensive metrics followed the same upward trend, with bat speed climbing 4.13 miles per hour. Off-field habits mirrored on-field gains, as average daily screen time among players dropped 10 percent, and the fall semester GPA was 3.2. The program’s commitment to measurable growth remains a defining characteristic heading into the new season.
Several impact sophomores return to anchor the lineup and pitching staff. Parker Vaughn, a sophomore infielder committed to Western Michigan University, headlines a veteran core that also includes Bryce Wiggins, Jack Coluzzi, AJ Alicea, Oliver Raczysnki, Wade Sommers, Braden Slogor, Tyler Young, Matthew Whiteman, Christian Douglass, and Korbin Smith. Their experience provides leadership, continuity, and production across multiple positions.
An incoming freshman class is expected to make an immediate impact as well. JT Youngblood, Jace Davis, Carson Sweet, Kaiden Kapa, Ryan Louch, Gavin Przybyla, Mack Phillips, Trey Nurenberg, Quinten Leamon, and Griffin Devooght add athleticism, depth, and competition throughout the roster, strengthening both the lineup and the mound.
The 2026 season outlook centers on speed, depth, and sustained progression. With a veteran nucleus, an energized freshman class, and measurable offseason improvement across performance categories, the Stars position themselves to compete immediately and sustain success throughout the year.
